There is a full time position available for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at the William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital, Madison, WI. Routine Duties: Completes pre-anesthesia assessment of the preoperative (pre-procedure) patient Administers all types of anesthetics and places necessary invasive monitoring lines with supervision by an attending anesthesiologist Post-anesthesia management of patient Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and other acute postoperative pain management (e.g. epidural infusion) The CRNA must be able to respond to situations of life threatening nature during normal tour of duty hours and in a timely fashion when assigned on-call duties. They must act promptly, recognizing the need for supervisory assistance and support, and summoning the staff anesthesiologist promptly. The CRNAs are expected to participate in the instruction of medical students, residents, and other learners in the manual skills for which they have pertinent experience. The Chief, Anesthesiology Service may assign additional responsibilities, clinical and/or administrative, as may be considered beneficial for, and as it contributes to, the efficacy and productivity of the Service.
