The role you’ll contribute:
As a Venous Access Service (VAS) RN, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a faith-based atmosphere.
The Venous Access Service RN is a registered professional nurse validated as a Vascular Access Specialist, who is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total vascular access care to all age groups as identified in the direct care responsibilities.
Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating), in achieving the goals of the Venous Access Services department. Communicates with Department Supervisor, Clinical Specialist or Educator as needed to enhance excellence in the delivery of patient care.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Obtains patient assessment, evaluating diagnosis, previous medical history, existing infusion related complications, and ordered therapy as relates to current venous access consult. Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret data relative to patients’ age and infusion therapy and venous access needs.
Identifies individualized plan of care based on patients’ needs related to both infusion therapy and the venous access consult and intervenes appropriately. Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluates availability of support system consistent with assessment.
Manages and intervenes appropriately for the patient with current venous access issues, including but not limited to: prioritization, appropriate venous access choice for age, therapy, and any current complication’s impact on the needs for IV therapy.
Under general supervision the Venous Access RN is a registered professional nurse with leadership skills certified as a Vascular Access Specialist who is responsible for supervising and providing direct and indirect vascular access care to assigned age groups as identified in the position responsibilities.
Demonstrates leadership skills and continuous competency in the specific procedures related to venous access and infusion therapy. Directs and provides supervision of patient venous access care activities of staff on shift basis ensuring staff is delegated tasks appropriate to their scope of practice, skill and the patients’ needs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Current registration with Florida State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse.
American Heart BLS & ACLS
Must provide competency to place PICC and midlines by sign off of current Company or PICC RN.
